The Allegory of the Returned African
By Onitaset Kumat
A Brother from the continent visited the diaspora and overheard our ambition to return to the continet, so he did. When he returned, his mother’s chief questioned why. The Brother assured the chief that with five acres he could be no burden on the village. The chief cooperated.
After a month of study, the Brother called his contacts in America requesting compatible seeds. Today he manages two-hundred-fifty acres. In the last drought that affected the village, this Brother fed his and six other villages.
We as African people need to study the land of Africa, returning to not only be of no burden, but to assist in the needs of our family.
