Right now, I can ask you “Who is Queen Christina?” and rightly you can answer “Who is Queen Christina?” I can then ask you “Who is Pharaoh Hatshepsut?” and ashamedly you may answer “Who is Pharaoh Hatshepsut?” Pharaoh Hatshepsut is widely considered the most powerful woman in human history, yet it’s Queen Christina, some strange woman in Sweden, who has a film. We dropped the ball in America but we have a ball in Nigeria. We must keep it. Nigeria is the second largest producer of films, the largest with an all-Black and beautiful cast, the whole African world ought support it. The reason is explained in the Letter from Merilan. But importantly, when you build an African Blood Siblings Community Center, you can build a Community which owns its own theatres and features the likes of Queen Hatshepsut. The Second Largest Film Industry is African
By Onitaset Kumat
It is so beautiful to see our people creating.
The large shame arises from our people, here in America, being oblivious to it.
Even if Nigerian Cinema created only one film, we should hear of it. Yet, though it creates more films than “Hollywood,” “Nollywood” doesn’t seem to exist to American Africans.
It’s obvious that they can not afford to advertise on White media down here. But this doesn’t mean much. If we will to expand Nigerian Cinema, it can be done.
