The Freedom Party and ABS

In the Service of our Ancestors and African Love,
Listen Seeker, I come in peace,

“9. Seek to be part of a brotherhood, sisterhood, or group, for we accomplish more together than alone.” — Brother G on ancestral ethical code

In 2010, I joined the strong effort to establish a Black-led Political Party.  The Freedom Party was betrayed internally and ran into many external barriers.  When we organize African Blood Siblings Community Centers, internal betrayals and external barriers will be less effective in destroying our ambitions.

The Freedom Party and ABS
By Onitaset Kumat

Em Hotep Siblings,

The quest for knowledge is the quest for instruction.

The Freedom Party is a political party initiated by the Attorney-At-War, Alton Maddox Jr.  It’s earliest campaign was in 1994, though I became involved in 2010.  In order for the Freedom Party to gain ballot status, it needed 50,000 votes in the 2010 election, but since votes in NYC are counted by the Police, it didn’t make the 50,000 votes.  Worse, the gubernatorial candidate Charles Barron, unbeknownst to most of us, is not the sort to sue the Police for this clear abuse (i.e. he’s on their payroll.)  It would be well to run a different candidate.

It is not evident to many of us as to why we need “The Freedom Party” or ABS for that matter.  So I will explain it quickly.  Some people would prefer to reform the Democratic Party, but we ought ask ourselves if that’s a viable plan.  In order to ask, we should investigate one of the largest problems affecting African people in New York City: namely, the Prison-Industrial-Complex.  This can be a long story, but to make it short, let’s ask “Who sends Africans to prison?”  Very simply, “Judges.”  But who selects those judges in NYC?  The Democrats (more particularly political parties, but the Democrats have been the leading political party for many years now).  So, very apparently, the Democrats are and have been the biggest enemies of African people in NYC.  If this is ongoing, then the concern of reform is out of the question.  Moreover, it’s informative that if the Freedom Party existed, we could have our own judges and if we have any illnesses we can fix them with more rehabilitation as opposed to prison.

To finish, how does ABS fit into this plan?  When we have a large organization with African Blood Siblings Community Centers to raise our consciousness, we can get the Freedom Party on the ballot, maybe win some executive positions and definitely some legislative positions.  Moreover, we can protest the police ballot counting en masse and, with a moral philosophy, engage intelligently toward change.  The squeeky wheel et cetera et cetera.  Build.
